I have Victoria rhubarb, which is an old variety and apparently prone to bolting but what triggered the urge to produce seed is also a case of deja vu - a very long and very cold winter, just like we had in 2014.
I can't decide if the flower heads are pretty. It doesn't really matter because they have to go. I will cut the flower stalks down to the earth and will be on watch for any more, which I'll remove as soon as I see them.
Last year when this happened I was worried about whether the rhubarb would continue to grow through out the season but it actually went on the thrive. Knowledge is a wonderful thing.
Is you rhubarb bolting, too?
